I'm delighted to be involved once again with the fundraising efforts of Passports with Purpose.
There’s lots more information on the PwP website, but in a nutshell, Passports with Purpose was started by four travel bloggers based in Seattle to raise money for good causes, as a way to give back to this world we all live and travel in. Last year the goal was to raise $13,000 to build a school in Cambodia, but generous donations helped the group raise nearly $30,000, which meant that PwP was able to sponsor a school nurse and a lunch program as well. A report on the school is here. So this year the organizers have set their sights even higher: to build an entire *village* in India! The organization that PwP will donate to is Friends of LAFTI, which focuses on assisting the Dalits (untouchables) in India. More about their work here. As a refresher, the way it works is, each participating blogger offers a prize, and then asks readers to make donations. For every tax deductible $10 donation you make, you get a shot at winning the prize of your choice. 100% of the money raised goes to Friends of LAFTI. I’m very pleased to announce that the Hotel Andra, one of my preferred hotels here in Seattle, has most generously donated a gift certificate for a one night stay in a Superia room. The gift certificate is valid through December 30, 2011, and may not be used December 31, 2010, February 11, 2011 or in July, August and September. Click here to make a donation and see a list of all the great prizes. Donations close on December 13, and prizes will be awarded on December 17--just in time for holiday gift giving! I hope you’ll join me in supporting this great cause and good luck on winning one of the prizes!
